biography
I have always painted right from childhood and im self taught although i did have a brief spell at art college studying fine art.I also studied art photography at college for 3 years and achieved 2 distinctions in my city & guilds in the subject but i have since returned to my first love,painting ,although the camera does come out from time to time.
My paintings are mostly seascapes and landscapes but it is the sky that is most important to me and i use this to reflect my moods.
I also paint portraits from time to time and more contemporary abstract , self expressionist works of a more personal nature about myself and my life,but all my paintings have a story to tell.
I tend not to include people in my landscapes as i like to capture solitude and the colours of raw nature and find figures to be a distraction.
Oils and watercolours are my main mediums but i also use pastels,gouache and acrylics.I try wherever possible to paint plein air on location but if not possible i use my camera and sketches for further use in my studio.
When possible i paint everyday as i love art and i love painting.
Only the finest quality artists materials are used and all sizes/dimensions are picture size only and not any mounts or frames.
